The Slovenian giant who made history in Saalbach and shone in Beijing

Žan Kranjec medal

Žan Kranjec is a Slovenian alpine skier born on November 15, 1992, in Ljubljana. Specialized in giant slalom, he has achieved significant results at the international level. He made his World Cup debut in March 2011 in Kranjska Gora. In December 2018, he made history for Slovenia by winning his first giant slalom in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, becoming the first Slovenian to win a World Cup race in this discipline. In February 2022, he won the silver medal in giant slalom at the Beijing Olympics, giving Slovenia a historic result.
