Anniversary Capsule Collection

A collaboration among past, present and future.

100 years of history: being yourself, always evolving.

Yes, 100 years are a great milestone, yet they also mark the big desire to start again, to always be in motion, and to consistently renew ourselves. This is how Colmar celebrates its history and DNA, with a collaboration involving Hybebeast and Joshua Vides. New trends, new challenges. And a new story to tell.

Colmar, Hypebeast, and Joshua Vides

The project, by Hypebeast, is based on Joshua Vides’ capsule collection, and creative content, videos as well as communication campaigns, which have been created in synergy with Hypemaker. To leave our mark through the strokes of a brush.

JOSHUA VIDES

Anniversary Capsule Collection

Joshua Vides: visual artist and designer.

Brush, black paint, white backgrounds, unmistakable stroke.

The creativity of Joshua Vides has given life to a collection of 10 pieces that retrace and redesign the history of Colmar. Yes, they redesign it: Joshua Vides is a visual artist from Palo Alto, California. He worked with very famous brands in the streetwear world, then he founded CLSC, a brand that made him a global point of reference. In 2017, he took a Nike Air Force 1, some brushes, and some black paint, and he invented his own language. That sneaker seems to escape the visual perceptions of those who observe it. Optically, it looks like something out of a black and white comic. Two-dimensional? Three-dimensional? The eyes are deceived. And enchanted. It's Joshua's dimension.

Often, being artists is like being athletes, who are able to keep up the pressure and to do what's asked of them. It's a constant training towards creativity.

The Collection

Anniversary Capsule Collection

Anniversary Capsule Collection

Joshua Vides studied Colmar's archives extensively, and created 10 pieces for the 100th anniversary.

The iconic pieces, i.e. two jacket and a vest, that are reversible and padded, are printed in black and white.
The first side is totally white. With black brushstrokes, Joshua has redesigned the Colmar Originals logo, and has traced sinuous lines, which follow the shapes of the garment. The reverse is black. On this side, the brushstrokes have redefined the Colmar logo from 1923.

The legendary Ceffa, the jacket created in the Seventies for Gros, Thoeni and Stricker, lives again in the jacquard sweater, which celebrates the years and the place of birth of the company, as if it were a real ski race bib, reinterpreted in Joshua’s style.

Colmar Celebrative Campaign: three friends and a Legend

Photos and videos relevant to the Capsule Collection celebrating Colmar’s 100 years anniversary are edited by Hypebeast. With glossy 70s images as inspiration, the campaign portrays three friends in the mountains for a day of skiing. Here they meet an iconic character: The Legend, the man of the mountain ready to share with them a 100-year history.
